Lake Compounce is a 332-acre theme park in Bristol that opened in 1846 and holds the record for the longest continuously operated amusement park in the United States. The park is open may through October and features live stage shows, Garfield-themed children’s area and over 35 rides and attractions. It also includes a 28-acre lake with beach and Splash Harbor Water Park. Lake Compounce is home to several thrill rides that include the “Wildcat” and “Zoomerang” coasters and the world-famous “Boulder Dash” wooden roller coaster and “Thunder N’ Lightning” pendulum ride. Family rides include “Pirate Ship”, “Wave Swinger” and “Ghost Hunt” dark ride as well as the “Thunder Rapids” and “Saw Mill Plunge” water rides.
